A Port Elizabeth man has been jailed for life for a gangland killing in 2013.
Twenty-three-year-old Almarco Kiewiets was sentenced in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Friday for the murder of 31-year-old Joseph Wright.
Wright was shot dead in his garage at his house in Helenvale, while two friends were wounded.
The incident took place on the 25th of September 2013.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says Kiewiets was also sentenced to five years each on two counts of attempted murder.
Meanwhile, Kiewiets life sentence was the 10th such sentence secured by Gelvandale policeman, Warrant Officer, Christian Rowan.
He told Algoa FM News that he's happy to have been able to bring closure to the family of the victim, adding that while he has been threatened before he says as a member of the SA Police Service they face danger every day.
