PE man pleads guilty to fraud

A Port Elizabeth man has pleaded guilty in the Commercial Crimes court to fraud and theft involving more than R1.6 million.

State Prosecutor, Shadrack Temeki says Eugene Scheepers had contravened the Debt Collectors Act, by acting as a debt collector without being registered between June 2007 and December 2008.

Temeki says Scheepers is also charged with contravening sections of the Bank Act, while also being charged with reckless trading for contravening the Close Corporation Act.

The case has been postponed until the 8th August for pre-sentencing proceedings.
