Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder after a 26-year-old man was shot on Thursday morning while waiting outside his home for a lift to work.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said Manuel Williams was standing at the corner of Barberry Drive and Pincushion Street in the Bethelsdorp when two unknown men approached him and fired shots.
Naidu said Williams ran to a house in Barberry Drive but collapsed in the backyard.
He sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and died on the scene.
Police believe the incident was not gang-related but said it was likely that robbery was the motive.
