A man was killed and another had a narrow escape with his child, in two separate shooting incidents in Port Elizabeth's northern areas on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson, WO Alwin Labans, says 36-year old Denzil Daniels was shot dead in Chinastraat, Timothy Valley just before 9 o'clock.
He was standing outside a shop, when he was hit by a single bullet in the head.
Daniels died at the scene.
Labans says in the other incident in Closemore street, Malabar late on Wednesday afternoon, shots were fired at a 22-year old man and his young son.
They escaped unharmed.
Labans says both incidents are linked to gang violence, and the suspects are known to the police.
Arrests are expected soon.
