Police in Kabega Park, Port Elizabeth, have arrested a 31 year old suspect on charges of perjury.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says police investigations had revealed that the suspect had lied when he opened a robbery case in October.
She says the robbery claim related to the theft of hundreds of chickens and crates of chicken feed belonging to the man's employer.
Janse Van Rensburg, says Andile Vena appeared at the St Albans Magistrate's Court on Friday where the case was postponed to next week.
She's cautioned the public that opening a false case is a serious offence.
