A man from Malabar in Port Elizabeth whose body was found in a street with multiples dog bites last week died of natural causes.
Spokesperson for Police Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says this was confirmed by a post mortem which was held to determine the exact cause of death.
Police were summoned to a street in Malabar on Friday morning the 27th of September where the 48-year-old Melvin Stuurman's body was lying in the street.
Janse van Rensburg says whilst the police were processing the scene, they followed up on information about a woman who was busy washing her dogs nearby.
Police roped in the help of the Animal Anti Cruelty league who accompanied them to the premises.
Police found four dogs at the house and removed them as the conditions they were living in contravened the Animal Protection Act 71 of 1962.
The dogs, two Pitbulls and two crossbreeds, are currently in the care of the Dog Control department at the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
Janse van Rensburg says the investigation into the inquest is still ongoing.
