A young Port Elizabeth man died in a suspected gang-related shooting outside Sanctor High School on Friday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, says the 22-year-old man had gone to the school to pick up his girlfriend.
He says a lone gunman, dressed in grey school pants and white shirt, opened fire on his car.
Labans says seven shots were fired.
He says in a desperate bid to get away from the gunmen the victim smashed into two cars and also ran over two school children, aged between 9 and 10, before his car came to a standstill.
Labans says the man, whose name is being withheld, died on the scene.
His girlfriend escaped unharmed.
Labans says the shooter is still at large.
