Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, after an elderly man was brutally assaulted by a person riding a quad bike.
Spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg says it is alleged that a 67-year old man confronted a man on a quad bike for driving recklessly in Lorraine on Friday afternoon.
She says the elderly man was severely assaulted and he went to Walmer police station in the evening to report the incident, as he required immediate medical attention due to the nature of his injuries.
Janse van Rensburg says the police have opened a case on behalf of the complainant and a formal statement is yet to be obtained.
She says the suspect is known and an arrest is imminent.
