Taxis in George continued with the suspension of services for a fourth consecutive day on Saturday.
This, following a stand-off between the taxi industry and local authorities, after a number of taxis were impounded earlier in the week.
This led to taxi owners suspending their operations in protest of what they said was unfair treatment and intimidation by provincial traffic and local authorities.
Director of provincial traffic, Farryl Payne says 13 taxis were impounded last week by the provincial traffic services and more than 1000 vehicles were stopped at roadblocks.
Meanwhile, Western Cape Transport MEC, Donald Grant said he was looking at decisive measures to address violent incidents in George which culminated in the torching of four vehicles, including municipal cars.
Grant said that he had published a notice in the Government Gazette, announcing his intention to implement extraordinary measures to protect commuters and secure infrastructure in George.
