Port Elizabeth police were inundated with calls on Thursday night from members of the public who reported people burning tyres and setting off fireworks for Guy Fawkes Day.
A police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the complaints were from Algoa Park, Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp areas.
A 22-year-old man was arrested in Algoa Park on Thursday after he was found burning tyres on the road as part of Guy Fawkes celebrations.
The man will be charged for damaging infrastructure under the Criminal Matters Amendment Act.
Colonel Naidu says the main culprits were children who were playing cat and mouse with the police.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality stated on Wednesday that the setting off of fireworks were not allowed during Lockdown Level 1.
