A Port Elizabeth lawyer, who was prohibited from practicing as an attorney in 2012, has testified in the case against him in the city's commercial crimes court.
Thobela Qampi was convicted in January and pleaded guilty to 33 counts of fraud, involving close on R800 000.
According to the plea statement, Qampi admitted to providing legal services to clients when he did not have a fidelity fund certificate to do so.
He admitted that he had been interdicted and prohibited from practicing as an attorney by order of the Eastern Cape High Court in Grahamstown in March 2012.
The case against Qampi was postponed to the 18th of May for sentencing
According to the state prosecutor, he also was convicted of theft last year.
