PE home owner shot to death in his house in Rowallan Park

Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of murder after a 50-year-old man was shot to death in his house in Rowallan Park on Monday night.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the victim was at his house in Rademeyer Street when his 19-year-old twin boys entered the home at about 7 pm.

She says a preliminary report indicated that the twins were followed by two men who shot the victim when he approached them.

Colonel Naidu says it was later established that the father had actually asked one of his children to go and fetch something in his car, and when he returned moments later, a man followed him inside with a gun held to his head.

Colonel Naidu says the victim then got up from where he was sitting in the house and was shot twice and died on the scene.

Nothing was stolen from the house and the suspects fled on foot.

Colonel Naidu says the motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.

The name of the victim cannot yet be released as his wife, who is currently abroad, still has to be informed of his death.
