George Municipality
George Municipality has allocated half-a-million rand to clean-up around 200 illegal dumping sites around the city.
The Municipality says the impact of Covid19 has highlighted the dangers of illegal dumping sites as breeding grounds for insects and vermin as well as possibly containing dangerous medical waste.
Spokesperson, Chantelle Edwards Klose, says the Municipality's cleaning division will start the clearing programme this week.
Thembalehtu and Pacaltsdorp were highlighted as hotspots.
George Municipality has cautioned residents against illegal dumping.
