Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 25-year old gang affiliate and recovered two firearms in Gelvandale at the weekend.
Spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu says it is alleged that Public Order Policing members were patrolling in Goliath street on Friday evening when they noticed two suspicious men.
She says as the police vehicle stopped, one of them started running, and the two police Constables gave chase.
Naidu says just before jumping over a wall of a back yard, the suspect tossed a revolver on the ground and continued running.
The suspect was apprehended in a yard in Van Duuren Street.
Col Naidu says while police were still processing the crime scene, another firearm, a 9mm pistol was found a few metres away.
The suspect is being detained and will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court on Monday.
