The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit has arrested a 19-year-old gang affiliate shortly after a murder was reported in Bethelsdorp in Port Elizabeth's northern areas.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says it is alleged that 60-year-old Gilbert Peterson was working on a burnt-out vehicle in front of his house yesterday, when the suspect walked up to him, pulled out a firearm and fired shots at him.
She says Peterson sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
The suspect, who was known, ran away and a short while later he was arrested at a house in Arcadia.
He is expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday on a charge of murder.
