A 22-year-old gang affiliate has been arrested by members of the Anti-Gang Unit while on patrol in Port Elizabeth's northern areas.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the man was arrested at Ferreira’s Grounds in Kleinskool on Saturday when police recognised him on their wanted list.
She says the suspect tried to give a false name, but was arrested for attempted murder in March this year.
Naidu says at the time, three friends, aged between 22 and 31, were sitting in the lounge of a house when gunshots were fired from outside.
A 22-year old sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, while the other two escaped unharmed.
The arrested suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday.
