PE fraudster jailed for 8 years

A former employee of the Department of Home Affairs has been sentenced to an effective eight years imprisonment in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court.

Forty-five year old Noninzi Dyonase from Algoa Park, who was employed as a control immigration officer, was jailed on Thursday.

She was convicted in May of defrauding the Department of more than R145 000.

According to the state, Dyonase submitted false travel and subsistence claims which were pushed through by her co-accused, Selby Skosana.

Skosana, a former senior accounting clerk in the Department's Pretoria office, is serving a six year sentence for his role in the crime.
