A Zimbabwean national, who pleaded guilty to stealing R93 000 from clients at a Port Elizabeth FNB branch, has been given three months to pay back the money.
Forgive Teydzani Sibanda(27), pleaded guilty to five counts of theft and was sentenced at the city's Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday
Sibanda, who was employed at the FNB Newton Park branch as a financial advisor, illegally transferred money from the client's bank accounts to his personal account, his friend's account, Mr. Mncube and the Christ Embassy Church.
According to the charge sheet, Sibanda said he gained access to the five client's accounts with their assistance however the clients did not authorize any of the transactions.
"Once I had access to the various bank accounts I was in a position to make transfers to the bank accounts. The bank accounts belonged to me, Mr. Mncube and my church"
He also received a suspended sentence.
