A 31-year-old man is expected to appear in the New Law Courts in Port Elizabeth on Thursday after stabbing a man in his house in Gelvandale.
Police Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says it is alleged that on Tuesday night the man broke into the 37-year-old victim's house in Virgo street, Gelvandale by kicking open the front door.
The man and his wife were both threatened with a knife when a scuffle between the complainant and the suspect ensued.
The homeowner was then stabbed in the head.
Janse van Rensburg says when the son came out of his room screaming the suspect ran away empty handed.
He was arrested soon after by the Mount Road Trio Task Team.
The suspect will be charged with attempted house robbery and assault to do grievous bodily harm.
