A 27 year old man is due to appear in court on Monday following an alleged hit and run accident at the weekend in which two young girls were struck by a vehicle in Humewood, Port Elizabeth, and were critically injured.
Police captain Johan Rheeder says the girls from Helenvale are 16 year and 20 years old.
Rheeder told AlgoaFM News that the driver of the double cab bakkie that rode into the girls was arrested a few kilometres from the scene.
It does not appear that he stopped at the scene of the accident but drove on before being apprehended.
Rheeder says the man is being held in custody and will appear in court on a charge of reckless driving.
