Zimbabwean national Kelvin Zirema, who is charged with culpable homicide following a fatal accident in Port Elizabeth last month, has been denied bail in the PE magistrate's court.
The 31-year-old pilot has also been charged with drunken and reckless and negligent driving following the fatal crash on the Port Elizabeth beachfront in which Nigerian national, 36-year-old Anthony Agbo, was killed.
A local woman from Zwide was also seriously injured, losing part of a leg in the accident when Zirema allegedly smashed into the two pedestrians in the early hours of Sunday morning the 12th of May.
The luxury German sedan then collided with several cars parked in front of a beachfront hotel.
Zirema also faces additional charges of defeating the ends of justice and being in contravention of the Immigration Act.
Magistrate Xolisa Dlolisa said on Friday that he was refusing bail on the basis that Zirema was in the country illegally.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 26 July.
