A Port Elizabeth couple, charged with fraud, has been granted bail in the city's Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in the Eastern Cape, Anelisa Ngcakani says 51-year old John Henry Miles and his 50-year old wife, Laura Joan Miles appeared on fraud charges amounting to just over R3.2 million on Friday.
She says between 2011 and 2016, the two worked for a company known as Bravoplex, a service agent in the Port Elizabeth area for two other companies.
These two companies are unrelated to each other and conducted separate businesses.
John was the general manager of Bravoplex, while Laura was the financial administrator.
Ngcakani says the accused sold some stock of both companies without informing them, and in so doing, did not pay what was due to them.
The couple instead utilised the money for their personal use and benefit.
Algoa Park police detectives arrested the couple on Friday morning and they were granted R5 000 bail each.
They will be back in court on 26 August.
