Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, following a brazen attack on a woman at Humewood beach on Monday.
Police Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says they are also investigating a case of attempted robbery.
The 21-year-old Jayde Frost was walking with her dog at the beach when an unknown man threatened her with pepper spray and demanded her phone.
When Frost refused to hand over her phone he sprayed her and the dog with pepper spray and a scuffle ensued.
She was then stabbed with a knife in the back.
Janse van Rensburg says several people reportedly witnessed the attack.
She asked them to please get in touch with the investigating officer, Eric Matthews at the Humewood police station.
