Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a grab-and-run theft at a Greenacres jewelry store.
Police spokesperson, captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, says two men pretended to look at jewelry, took a ring valued at R25 000 and ran away on Thursday.
A woman who works in the store gave chase, but they fought her off and fled in a car.
Police later followed up on information and after a two hour stakeout at a house in Malabar, members of the Mount Road Crime Prevention Unit moved in an arrested a suspect.
Police recovered the ring and other jewelry, and also seized a diamond reader, water meter reading devices, the getaway car and other items.
