A Port Elizabeth police dog unit member made a brief appearance in court in Humansdorp on Friday.
The case against 28-year-old constable Mcebisi Lupuwana was postoned to the 15 March for a formal bail application.
He will be held in custody at St Alban's Prison until then.
Lupuwana was arrested by the Hawks for an armed robbery in Thornhill last month where a police vehicle was allegedly used.
Police are still searching for his alleged accomplices.
