A member of the Port Elizabeth police's Gang Task Team appeared in court on Tuesday, where it was revealed that she had allegedly been in a relationship with a suspected gangster wanted for attempted murder.
Constable Alicia Beeming faces a charge of defeating or obstructing the administration of justice.
The state alleges that Beeming, a specialist investigator with the Task Team, had neglected to inform her colleagues of the whereabouts of the suspect during the investigation between 2014 and 2015.
It's also alleged that she had made contact several times with the suspect.
Beeming will be back in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court on the 18th of August.
