Three men robbed congregants at the Good News Community Church in Stofile Street, New Brighton on Friday, Eastern Cape police said.
Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said the robbery happened at around 12.15pm. One man remained on guard outside, while the other two men entered the church office where about 15 congregation members were busy preparing food for a church function.
"The suspects demanded their cell phones and cash money. A total of 6 phones and cash money belongings were taken by the suspects. No church money was taken and no shots were fired," Beetge said.
"The three males then fled the scene on foot."
Beetge urged anyone with information to contact the New Brighton police station.
