PE businessman's court case postponed

A Port Elizabeth businessman made his first apperance in court on Thursday in connection with the murder of his wife.

Police captain, Stanley Jarvis says the case was postponed to the 4th of October, when 44-year-old Nathan Lewis, of Fernglen, will formally apply for bail.

Lewis, who jointly ran a restaurant at the Bridge Shopping Centre with his wife, Debbie, was arrested early on Tuesday morning.

Police said that he had stopped a police patrol in the early hours of that morning while driving his injured wife to hospital, to report that they had been attacked at their Fernglen Townshouse complex.

However, police became suspicious about his version of events.

The motive for the murder is not yet known.

Jarvis says Lewis will remain in custody at St Albans prison until his next court appearance.
