PE businessman in court again on culpable homicide

The culpable homicide case against Port Elizabeth businessman, Raven Rungan, has been postponed for judgement in the city's magistrate's court.

During court proceedings on Wednesday, the state called Constable Zian Horn who testified that Rungan had appeared unstable on his feet and that his breath had smelt of alcohol.

Horn was testifying about the day in 2010 that Muir College learner, Anre' Grobbelaar, was killed in Circular Drive after being hit by Rungan's luxury German car.

Algoa FM's Raahil Sain filed this report.

Defence Advocate Terry Price,on Rungan's stability questioned Horne's knowledge on whether he knew that Rungan had previously undergone a leg operation.

Horne also agreed with Price that the smell of alcohol alone on Rungan's breath was not enough to make an arrest.

Forty-three year old Rungan is also charged with two counts of driving under the influence of liquor.

He is the owner of V and R Auto and also owns a tow truck business in the city.

The case has been postponed until the 5th of December for judgement.
