A Port Elizabeth businessman has been arrested for the alleged murder of his wife.
Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says the 44-year-old man from Fernglen was taken into custody on Tuesday.
He says initially the man had stopped a police patrol in the early hours of Tuesday morning while driving his wounded wife to hospital and reported that they had been attacked.
Jarvis says the 37-year-old woman's throat had been slit and had been declared dead on arrival at hospital.
