PE bus service offer free wi-fi for passengers

Free Wi-Fi already enjoyed by Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University students will soon to be extended in another first for the city.

NMMU service provider Blunden Buses will soon be offering free W-Fi to all passengers on its fleet of 76 vehicles, including the 5000 students it transports daily for the university.

The pilot project starting on Friday will offer the free wireless connection aboard the 60-seater bus it uses to transport NMMU students from its Missionvale to North, South and Second Avenue campuses in Summerstrand.

Blunden Bus owner Shaun Blunden says that once the month-long pilot project is completed, free Wi-Fi will be made available to the other 17 vehicles, ranging from 22 to 60 seaters that service NMMU students daily.

Next year, Blunden hopes to bring out a mobile app that will allow students to locate the exact whereabouts of each bus.
