A group of Port Elizabeth anglers have laid a charge of attempted murder at the Swartkops Police Station after a shot was fired in their direction at the Port of Ngqura on Sunday morning.
East Cape Motors Dealer Principal Alan Percy was fishing on the ski-boat Al-Lure, along with two other boats in the annual Aurora Angling Competition, when the incident happened.
Percy says they were fishing about 50 meters off the Coega harbour break water when a group of six men suddenly appeared and started shouting at them to leave the area.
It was then, that one of the men fired a shot into the water near the three boats.
Percy says he understands that a senior police investigator has been tasked with determining whether the shot was fired by SAPS members or the Port's own security personnel.
