Twenty seven rail commuters were taken to hospital in East London following a light collision between two trains at the main station Thursday afternoon
Metrorail regional manager, Richard Walker, says two staff members were among those injured.
He says buses were laid on to assist passengers caught up in the delay.
Walker says services resumed shortly after 3pm.
"This afternoon (Thursday) at around 13h45 we had a yard shunt movement. Basically what happened (is that) we took one of our trains from the yard and it had to come into the platform for the afternoon service," he said.
"Unfortunately, there was light collision with a stationary passenger train that was supposed to depart at 14h00 to Berlin station. At around 15h12 we had the line cleared and we could resume our services," he said.
A board of inquiry will be convened in 48 hours to investigate the incident.
