The Chairperson of the Select Committee on Economic Development and Small Business, Eddie Makue, has voiced overall satisfaction with economic development in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
Members form the National Council of Provinces have been on a week long oversight visit to the metro.
Speaking to Algoa FM News on Friday, Makue said there was indeed a good story to tell as far as job opportunities and training for young people in the province were concerned.
Responding to a question regarding the Integrated Public Transport System, Makue said the committee was not able to meet with anyone who was prepared to take responsibility over what he a called a "disconcerting development."
He said at this point time they were unable to report to the community in any factual way over what was happening.
Makue raised concerns over the wastage with the purchase, investment and the lack of factual information on what the future plans were for the buses.
"We have however met with representatives of the Taxi Association and we are impressed with the services that they are providing, filling the gap, to make sure people have safe and reliable transport, but even with them there is a concern with regards to exactly they will be integrated into a plan for the provision for safe travel for the citizens of this municipality." said Makue.
