Pair accused of hatching murder plot to be tried in April

A forensic pathology services official and her lover, who allegedly hatched an elaborate plan to kill her husband, appeared briefly in the Gqeberha High Court earlier today.

The state alleges that Linda Qingana, 39, conspired with Andile Skenjana, 37, to kill her husband, Ayanda, in October 2020.

Ayanda, who worked as a Correctional Services officer, was shot and killed while visiting friends in New Brighton.

One of his friends who was also shot, survived the attack.

The accused face charges of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The trial was postponed to give the defence attorneys an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the contents of the case docket and to consult with their clients.

Both accused are out on bail.

The trial will resume on 18 April.
