The Buffalo City Metro (BCM) has issued a warning to beachgoers to be extra careful when taking to the shores this winter season.
This after a paddler had an encounter with a shark in Nahoon on Tuesday.
BCM aquarium manager, Siani Tilney says the sardine run is attracting a lot of seabirds and dolphin activity, and sharks, which is not unusual for this time of the year.
Beachgoers are advised that when they spot birds diving into the ocean, chances are that sardines are passing by and there is predator activity.
BCM Beaches and Recreation Manager Allen Zealand said the beach closure wasn’t going to be long and most likely will be lifted during the course of today (Wednesday).
