Oudtshoorn has reduced the town's debt by about R81 million in ten months.
The town's mayor, Colan Sylvester says that the council had inherited a creditors account of R110 million.
He says total overdue creditors account has since been reduced to R 28.5 Million.
Sylvester says role players are satisfied that the turnaround strategy for the town is on its way.
This follows after Oudtshoorn was placed under administration in 2015. The administration ended with the 2016 Local Government elections in August.
According to Sylvester, 17 council meetings have been held over the past 10 months and the municipality can now pay all its current operating expenses.
He says ward committees were established and for the first time in five years, top management posts were also filled.
Sylvester says the new council does not only talk but remains actively involved in implementing real change in the Greater Oudtshoorn area.
