Organisers of JBay Rage 2020 announced that the event, scheduled to have taken place from 15 to 22 December, has been cancelled.
This in the wake of an announcement by the Health Department that a number of Covid19 cases were confirmed from the recently-held Ballito Rage in Kwazulu Natal and warned against “super-spreader” events.
In a statement on Facebook, the organisers of the JBay Rage said that “due to the nature of the event, officials have advised that we cancel or postpone our festival.”
“We're aware of the reports of increased COVID-19 related cases from students who attended Ballito Rage events as well as numerous other non-Rage events. We are very concerned about the increase of COVID cases in the Kouga district.”
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that JBay Rage is cancelled,” the statement said.
Details will be communicated “over the next few days and in the coming weeks” if there are any changes to existing refund policies and procedures.
