Operation Fiela has reclaimed order in the violence stricken Grahamstown area - with four suspects aged between 28 and 49 years arrested on Thursday on various charges including possession of suspected stolen property and possession of drugs.
Over 20 fridges and chest freezers were recovered. Other stolen property recovered were household items, fencing and hardware.
Provincial police spokesperson, colonel Sibongile Soci says the recovered property is believed to have been stolen when community members started looting shops in the Joza and Grahamstown areas last week, which resulted in 97 suspects, including 10 juveniles, being arrested.
Operation Fiela also resulted in 17 arrests yesterday during police operations in the KwaZakhele, KwaDwesi, New Brighton and Motherwell policing areas and in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Operation Fiela continues today in Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp in the northern areas of Port Elizabeth.
