Port Elizabeth have confirmed that a suspect is under police guard in hospital in connection with Monday's attack on two police members in Veeplaas.
This was confirmed by police spokesperson, captain Andre' Beetge.
He says the man has not yet been charged but has been placed under arrest.
A 33 year old female constable, Thandiswa Yvonne Bambiso was killed while her 33 year old colleague, constable Nathaniel Mongezi Nqina was wounded when unknown gunmen opened fire on a police vehicle in Veeplaas in the early hours of Monday morning.
It would appear that one of the police members managed to fire a shot wounding the suspect.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape police commissioner, lieutenant-general Celiwe Binta, has travelled to Nelson Mandela Bay.
Its understood that she will be paying her respects to the deceased policewoman's family as well as visiting the wounded policeman in hospital.
The search for the remaining suspects is still continuing.
