One person was killed and two seriously injured following a head-on collision between two trucks on Monday night on the N10 on Olifantskop Pass.
Both trucks caught fire after the accident.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says the accident happened on the stretch of road between Paterson and Cookhouse.
He says the road is currently closed off for all traffic as the accident involved two heavy-duty trucks which need to be cleared.
Binqose says they had to wait for heavy-duty machines to assist them in clearing the road and therefore motorists are advised to use alternative routes or brace themselves for lengthy delays.
He says both drivers escaped with serious injuries while a body with burn wounds was found lying next to the two trucks.
The name of the victim is not yet known.
