One killed, six injured in accident near Mbizana, EC

One person was killed and one seriously injured in an accident between an Isuzu Truck and a Toyota Corolla on the R61 between Mbizana and Port Edward on Friday evening.

The Eastern Cape Transport Department says five more passengers sustained slight injuries.

Spokesperson, Makhaya Komisa says the injured were rushed to the Oliver and Adelaide Tambo Regional Hospital.

He says Transport and Community Safety MEC, Xolile Nqatha urges motorists to reduce speed and always drive cautiously, especially at night.

The cause of the accident is not known, and police are investigating.
