Two people were reportedly attacked by seals at Santos Beach in Mossel Bay on Saturday.
The Stranded Marine Animal Rescue Team (S.M.A.R.T) says a 56-year-old man and a young adult, whose age and gender are not yet known, were bitten while in the water.
An hour passed between the two attacks and it is unclear whether the same seal attacked the two people.
Both victims were taken to a private hospital where they are receiving prophylactic rabies treatment.
Although the SPCA and S.M.A.R.T. both attended the scene, they could not identify which seal it was, as two others had also appeared.
There have been previous reports of seals infected with rabies in the Mossel Bay area, which has since been euthanised.
The Municipality has urged the public to stay out of the water if a seal is seen nearby.
