A 39-year-old woman was killed and several other people were injured following a collision involving a taxi and a Peugeot between Marock and Stanford Road in Port Elizabeth's Northern Areas on Monday.
Police Captain Johan Rheeder, said the car was driving into Stanford Road when the taxi drove into it on the passenger side.
Rheeder said the deceased was sitting on the passenger side of the Peugeot and died on the scene
He said several school children travelling in the taxi were injured and were treated on the scene.
Rheeder said police have opened a case of culpable homicide.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
