Omotoso trial provisionally postponed due to Covid19

The sex trafficking trial involving controversial Nigerian Pastor, Timothy Omotoso has been provisionally postponed at the Port Elizabeth High Court to the 11th of May.

National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali says its one of the many cases that had to be provisionally postponed due to the current COVID-19 lockdown.

The trial hit yet another snag last month when the leading Prosecutor, advocate Nceba Ntelwa stepped down from the case.

The NPA said Ntelwa had other urgent matters to attend to and he would be replaced by his colleague Ishmet Cerfontein and another prosecutor who is yet to be announced.

Omotoso will remain behind bars at St Albans prison, west of Port Elizabeth, while bail is extended for his two co-accused Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho.

They face more than 90 charges that include rape, sexual assault, human trafficking and racketeering.
