Nigerian Pastor Timothy Omotoso is expected to apply for bail when his rape and human trafficking trial resumes in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Tuesday.
The National Prosecuting Authority said that his legal team “submitted an application for the court to conduct an inquiry into the reasons for the protracted delays in the case”.
NPA spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani, said that Omotoso’s also requesting the court to dismiss the evidence of the two witnesses who have testified so far.
“These three matters will be dealt with in court from tomorrow until Friday 9 October 2020,” she said.
Omotoso has been in custody since his dramatic arrest at the Port Elizabeth airport in 2017, while his co-accused Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho, are out on bail.
