The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says completion of repair work to the main water supply pipeline to Despatch has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Municipal spokesperson Mthubanzi Mniki says available water storage has been depleted due to the delay and some areas are already without water.
Mniki says more areas will be affected by this afternoon and consumers are asked to use water sparingly.
Efforts to complete the repair work and restore the supply is ongoing and all available water tankers have been deployed to the affected areas.
Mniki says they expect the water supply to Despatch to be restored by midnight.
