Newborn baby found wrapped in plastic bag

Mnquma municipal workers found the body of a newborn baby girl wrapped in a black plastic bag at a street at Extension 7 in Butterworth on Thursday morning. 

Police Captain Jackson Manatha says the workers were busy cleaning the street when they made the grim discovery.  

He added that police have opened an inquest docket. 

"We are going to investigate as to who might have given birth to this child and dumped her there" Manatha said
