An off-duty member of the SA National Defence Force was allegedly hijacked and robbed of his firearm in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, said the incident happened late on Monday afternoon on the R-334 towards Uitenhage.
He says the soldier, in his fifties, was flagged down by a man in the road who pointed a firearm at him and proceeded to smash a window of the car.
Beetge says the man was joined by several other suspects who emerged from the bushes and he was bundled into the back of his car and driven to Unit 29 in Motherwell where he was tied up.
He says the men took the soldier's firearm and left with his vehicle and other valuables.
The suspects are still at large.
