Metal workers union Numsa will lodge an urgent application in the Tshwane High Court on Wednesday for permission to hold a night vigil outside the office of the National Energy Regulator.
This, ahead of Thursday's announcement by the regulator on Eskom's application for a 16% a year price hike for the next three years.
The union is one of several in Cosatu that is spearheading a campaign for Nersa not to agree to the Eskom proposal.
Numsa's Castro Ngobese explains why they're going to court.
"The SAPS together with the Tshwane authorities refused to give us a permit to hold a night vigil tonight. They gave us this ridiculous reasons saying that Nersa is a national key point of which to us by the powers that be who are trying to muzzle popular decent, hence we are taking this matter to court"
